I am using a secondary hard drive and when I use it, the read write speed is horribly slow. What can I do to...

I use two internal hard drives and the second drive is just for movies, tv shows, and pictures. When I use the second hard drive to watch tv shows or a movie the read speed is so slow the show glitches badly. I have an Intel H55 chipset. I have read there might be a small glitch with this chipset that causes it that I might be able to correct. Does anyone know how to possibly fix this?
